During one of his trips to Baku, the famous scientist, navigator, archaeologist, oceanographer Tur Heyerdahl expressed a hypothesis about the connection of the ancient Vikings with Azerbaijan. In the ancient sagas, the chronicler Snorre directly indicates that the first Viking king Odin (Ogden) led his people out of the country of Azer. Odin himself was a shaman, and his magical knowledge and practice inspired respect for those around him. There are a lot of interesting things in the sagas about the initial fire worship of the Vikings. According to the chronicler Snorre, it was Odin who brought and distributed it. When he was terminally ill, he bequeathed to his body to be burned at the stake, and this form of burial, exported from the country of Azer, continued for many centuries with the Norwegians before they adopted Christianity.
